About

Hi, I’m Kia Merrifield — special education consultant, homeschool advocate, inclusion strategist, and author. I help schools, parents, and churches create environments where neurodivergent children are not just included, but supported and empowered to thrive.

For over two decades, I worked in public education as a special education teacher, specializing in students with multiple disabilities. I saw firsthand the challenges teams face: miscommunication, paperwork overload, burnout, and systemic breakdown. I also saw the impact it had on families — especially those navigating special education for the first time.

Now, through KRM Consulting Group, I bring clarity, collaboration, and compassion to the table — offering schools expert IEP writing and facilitation, helping parents homeschool their neurodivergent children with confidence, and equipping churches to create truly inclusive ministries.

I’m the author of A Case of the F&$.!#%K Its!, a memoir that explores my own healing journey as an educator who experienced deep trauma and found purpose on the other side of burnout. My story is rooted in faith, resilience, and the belief that advocacy and inclusion don’t end at the classroom door.

Currently, I’m completing my doctoral degree in special education leadership, where my research focuses on teacher safety, ethical recovery, and reforming how we support students with disabilities and the educators who serve them.

At KRM Consulting Group, our mission is to eliminate breakdowns in the IEP process by providing expert support that builds trust, saves time, and centers student success.

Whether you’re a school leader, a parent, or a ministry director — I’m here to walk alongside you, strategize with you, and support the kids who need it most.
